Re: NorCal's I hope I can go to FR11 and meet some cool turtles build thread
After being out of town all week for work I was able to get some more done this weekend. I re-sprayed my rear strut bar and intake as the last time I shot them I was using a brand new gun and wasn't used to it yet. I also shot a light first coat on the rad support to see if there were any spots that needed attention. There was and those have been taken care of.
Also today Kyle and I were able to finish the fab work on my hood [woot] All it needs now is some paint work. I was also able to get the crease out of the lip of the hood. It got a couple of dents in it during the process so I got bondo on that to make it all better.

Re: NorCal's I hope I can go to FR11 and meet some cool turtles build thread
I won't be driving to FR. I have a yearly metting in AZ for work the following week. So the drive time isn't allowed. If I have time and money I may fly out. I am planning on FF tho. That is a little easier of drive for me.
As far as time I'm doing fine. I work on it a little bit all the time. Next weekend I should be tearing into the wirring full bore.

Again if I can fly for cheap or free, then I'll be there.
FF works out a little better for my time line with work on money.

What do you guys think about me making my own roof rack? I would kinda base it off of others I've seen with wood planks stained a dark color. It would be only for use of road trips and G2G's and will be put to use.

You can buy the Q clips then go and buy the bars somewhere cheap.

What are the Q clips? Are those the clips that hold the rack to the car?

Well this is would be for cargo not bikes. So I wouldn't need the rails.

Go on Yakima.com. The clips hold the bar. Then you attach your rack or whatever to the bars. So one more time, you have a bus, then you put the girls in the bus then bang them on the bus.

No I ground down the spot welds then filled them back in with spot putty.

Doing it big in Nor Cal
So I worked on my car for a couple of hours today. Took a few pics of what I did.
First I got the car up onto jack stands so I can take the front struts off to be able to shave the wells. When she goes back on the ground she'll have the poly bushings on the front sway bar, the SVT header installed, and the wire tuck completed.
The progress of the shave.
Found this prefect place for my fog light relay.
Wire all pulled out of the front end of the car so I can tuck the main harness under the well instead of on top of it.

Re: NorCal's I hope I can go to FR11 and meet some cool turtles build thread
So I need help on how to do a battery relocation and wire tucking.
On the drivers side main harness there is two grounds and one wire that went to the neg battery post. In Nick's thread he has three grounded. Is that the same as having that one go to the neg battery post?
Then how what do I do for the main negative and positive battery cables for the relocation? Again I looked at Nick's thread and he has the new dual post deal, that the junction where you tie the old main cables in to the new cables running to the battery right?

Re: NorCal's I hope I can go to FR11 and meet some cool turtles build thread
So the weather has been crap this week, so I didn't get anytime to work on the car until today. The sun was out and it was warm so I got a ton of stuff done.
So first I finished MisterJohnson's bumper. Wet sanded and polished.
Engine covered up and passenger side being preped for paint.
Base coat on the wheel wells. When I get another nice day and some free time, I'll clear coat them.
Then I painted my engine mounts satin black to clean them up.
I've had this idea for a while and dove into it today. I decided to paint the passenger side engine bracket white to match the car.
Here it is in place, to give you an idea of how much cleaner it looks.
I also got the drivers side main wire harness tucked under the frame rail today. I got it held in with one zip tie and drilled one hole to use the factory connectors to hold it in place. Its a prefect fit. The only wire wire I may have to extend is the drivers side headlight.

Re: NorCal's I hope I can go to FR11 and meet some cool turtles build thread
Evan please. I haven't wired those up and need to soon.
Ken, FR > FF but sadly at this point I know the car is not going to make this year. I'm not sure if I'll be able to fly out there not yet.
Thanks Blake.
So it raining today and tomorrow and maybe Sat. Sunday is looking good and I hope to be clearing the engine bay and then moving onto painting the hood and trunk.
I'm calling Ken at ED tomorrow to find out where my CF trunk is. I haven't had an update in about a month.

Well I would like white, but I'm afraid the paint I'm using will stand up to the heat. My other idea is black wrinkle finish to give some contrast from all the white I'll have going on.

Its a one part product, no hardner added. Its a base coat clear coat system. I used it last year on my wagon then decided to use it on my stuff.

So I've farted around with her this week a little. I got the bumper back on (just need to bolt it in), took off the zetec mani heat shield, put the engine mounts back in, got the over flow tank and PS resivor back in place, and have been painting by hand the bolts that hold the rad support.
