Re: The build of SVT #3658
It looks like s*** in person. The color is off, there's orange peel, the did a pretty crappy job fixing the crack, and the paint is Hyundai thin. Don't even get me started on the shape my sideskirts are in, I am pretty damn pissed about them. And I got my hood back, which now has some lovely dents. I owe that asshole a f***ing thank you.
I've had the bumper for 9 weeks, and it spent 8 weeks "getting fixed and painted." Now I have to spend even more time getting it done right.
But tonight was about finally getting it on the car to see how I like it. And I love it. The crash bar needs another two inches trimmed from each side and the fitment will be as good as it's gonna get, the lip needs to be redone but I'll save that for when I get a new one and the bumper is finished, and the crack needs to be properly fixed. As it sits right now the first road gator or animal I hit will demolish my bumper.
this is a temporary situation though, the bumper will be back off soon enough. I just have to smooth it over and scrape together the money to get it painted at a real shop
And David, if you're reading this....I know I sound like an asshole about the whole situation. But your guy treated me like s***.

Yes it is, craptastical cell phone pics in a little bit, gotta upload them.Armanduhx3 wrote:So its on your car now?!

I didn't pay him. I went over with my dad and Rob, so it was a smooth incident. I walked in, was totally cool and asked if it by chance was done yet. He said "nope" then I asked if he had even touched it and again he said "nope" so I said I think I'm gonna take it somewhere else and get it done, this isn't working and pointed to where it was.
I got all my stuff but the mounting point for my sideskirt endcap was broken as they took it off my car then they lost the piece so I don't have that to glue back on, and they somehow managed to gouge my sideskirt and put some dents in my hood

Wow, harsh.. At least I now know where not to go
The thing is you were still paying him, full price or not he should of had that done, correctly.

It looks bad, but I'm gonna rock it for a bit. My phone's speaker just died and it's outside of warranty but I still have 8 months until I can sign another contract and get the "upgrade" price. So now I have a phone that will do everything except make noise. Awesome.

Sucks about the bumper. I know a place down here that will do damn good work, but you'll pay for it. 2 weeks after owning the red car i was on my way to summer classes at fiu and a rock from a construction zone dump truck (fist sized) hit my hood and almost hit the windshield. $200 for a thumb sized dent (bump 1/4-1/3" deep) and scratches a big as my palm print. Only i could find the fix. and the paint very well.

That's what happens when you get fresh paint on just one part of the car.

Not true. The difference is much more than what should be considered passible. I don't think the guy used the corrrect silver at all. Diffferent amount of flake, diffferent shade and the paint is stupid-thin. Definately not a case of just getting one part painted.

Re: The build of SVT #3658
What Rob said.
The guy told me straight up that he didn't use my VIN to mix the paint, he just used a generic metallic silver mixture.
I have other parts on my car that have been painted based off of my VIN, and they match almost pefectly.
I definitely know the difference between the color being slightly off because it's new paint going on an 8 year old car and when it is majorly off because the person painting it f***ed it up bigtime. Like Rob said, the amount of flake is off and the color is off. It probably would've looked better if he wasn;t such a cheapskate and actually put a good amount of silver on it, but he did the bare minimum to cover and it REALLY shows.

Re: The build of SVT #3658
Well either way. I guess because of the pictures, i can hardly see any "huge" difference. It looks fine to me. In the second picture you can def see it slightly bright, but nothing to get "extremely" upset over....although you should yell at the guy who did it...cus you did pay for it.

Re: The build of SVT #3658
Come to Jax so you can see it in person. It looks like s***. I agree it looks "fine" but there's no way in hell I'm going to pay for something that looks "fine." It better be damn near perfect, I have to see it every day.
And I noticed this morning that the paint on my hood is separating/peeling from the hood on the edges, and the paint on my bumper is starting to crack. So no, it is not "fine" it is complete garbage. Now I'm going to have to sand all the paint back off before I paint it. Awesome.....

Re: The build of SVT #3658
Still the best build here. Keep doin' it right, Josh. If I had a focus, it'd be yours. Just lower. A lot lower.
So lower it and give me pizza. I'm hungry. I want you to deliver pizza to my work tomorrow. I saw you on 9A this morning passing by right after the Philips highway heading east. So I know you can do the trip to work.

Re: The build of SVT #3658
Thanks bro.
Oh trust me, it will be lower by the end of summer. I got my summer job back, so it's on. Just gotta make da moneys. 10 bucks an hour cash, it shouldn't take too long...I hope.
I found that H&Rs have come down in price, they're $1099 plus about 55 bucks in shipping. and with a lifetime warranty, you can't go wrong with em. Give me time, it will be done....although I'm probably gonna need to get smaller tires or pull my fenders a lot more haha.
You saw me this morning? At god awful motherfuckingearly in the morning? I have no idea how I missed you, I usually keep an eye out for modded cars. But damn you go to work early son. Where exactly do you work at?
Delivering the pizza isn't the issue you see, it's having the time to go to you, deliver it, bullshit with you (because we know it's inevitable), by the time you get your pizza it might not be so hot anymore, and then driving back. So at minimum I'd venture to say it's be a 2 hour delivery

Closer...

RECAROS!!!! I've wanted these things for 3 years now, and I finally have them!
You can see my red SVT seats all packed up in the hatch...they're going to my storage unit tomorrow. Don't PM me about them, please.
HUGE thanks to Duncan (DigitalGT) for selling them to me and helping me put them in
I was debating not posting about it and just showing up to Carlisle with them, but that's no fun
I can't wait for Carlisle, TWO MORE WEEKS!
Full-car shot

I'm poor. If I could afford it, I would. But I'm not going to cancel my trip to FL to go to Carlisle, and I'm buying a new set of wheels/tires since I need tires for my current wheels...and my buddy is selling some for $400, brand new wheels AND tires. I think you guys will like what I buy
