Ahuzen's 2002 SVT Build
I just picked up this little gem on Saturday. plans are for a mild track build down the road, but for right now i just want to get it back on the road
i know, its a basket case
list of parts needed to return it to the road
Doors-picking up a set this Friday
Seats-stock Focus seats are most likely going in for the time being
Steering wheel-picking up Friday
Drivers side fender-picking up Friday
Bumpers-another big priced item that i need to track down
Side skirts-still looking
Header-ordered and on its way
Throttle body-installed
Seat belt buckles-easy part
Headlights-stockers or a set of the Machs i have in the basement
Ebrake-picking up Friday
Gauge cluster-picking up Friday
Put the dash back in-in, but needs bolted down
Taillights-picking up Friday
this is also a sort of FR12 build list to keep me focused on what i need to get done. so items will be slowly marked out as i go

Re: Ahuzen's 2002 SVT Build
good news, i found 90% of the parts needed to get this thing road worthy. going next weekend to pick up the bigger items and ordering some of it today.
the car without the tarp
dash sort of back in. none of the bolts are in yet. still need to sort through what i have and find the screws and bolts
carpet is out
another thing i forgot, the passenger quarter glass is shattered
18" Enkei J10's. bent and rashed to hell and back. tires are still decent though
someone added a rear cargo light to the car. i may try to get the headliner out intact to see if someone would want it
other than these few little things, im mostly waiting on parts to come in before the serious work starts
and if you didnt notice, this is a mostly Ford house

of course, while im putting money into the SVT, the 05 decides to break down. pretty sure the clutch is toast. so until i can fix it, ill be driving my truck 60 miles a day to work . $20 a day in gas
those wheels will probably end up being sold once i get the car together

small update, i found a set of wheels that i couldnt really pass up for the price. if they dont fit right, i can flip for profit
Enkei EK26s in 15x8 with an unknown offset
and then thinking about these for tires

im not too worried about the poke, hopefully flares with cover that as much as possible. i just hope like hell they clear the brakes without much effort

Re: Ahuzen's 2002 SVT Build
ill get some pics up of it later tonight, but how bad is -15 offset? turns out though that the wheels are only 7s, not 8s. he refunded some money back my way to compensate, so im still happy with them.
yes, they clear the brakes. but the center is off. i need a 10mm spacer and i should be golden for now

turns out i had a set of hub centric rings on the hubs......... now they only poke about 2.5" and they still clear the brakes

Re: Ahuzen's 2002 SVT Build
You're really going to need flares
But if you're going to all the trouble of adding flares, why not start with a much wider wheel than a 7" that pokes a LOT ?

im just using these for now. once i get some track time under my belt, ill either find a wider set or order a custom set of wheels

Re: Ahuzen's 2002 SVT Build
i should be getting the seat brackets welded up sometime either this weekend or during the week.
i did find a slight problem though. the header i bought has an EGR bung welded into it. i didnt realize what it was until i did some research today. so now i need to find something to fill the hole as a temp fix.
things that need fixed in the next couple of weeks are, an o2 sensor, the header, headlights, and the seat brackets. after that, its mostly drivable.

Re: Ahuzen's 2002 SVT Build
i managed to find a drain plug part number that fills the EGR bung. so im going to just use that. the header is bent anyways, so its not staying on the car for very long

Re: Ahuzen's 2002 SVT Build
took the car on its first long drive today and it actually did pretty good. nothing fried, nothing broke off, nothing bad happened. drove for a total of about 2 hours. the exhaust is plugged, but its still a lot louder than i figured it would be
i fixed my rough idle issue too, it was a charging issue. the fusible link in the battery cable was fried, so i made a temp jumper around it until i can get a good set of cables

Re: Ahuzen's 2002 SVT Build
so i was browsing wheels that are a little more useful than what i have now
http://fifteen52.us/shop-2/#ecwid:category=1022266&mode=product&product=4284928
what do you guys thing of these in a 25ET? they would poke about 1-1/8" less than my current wheels and still clear the strut
then a set of these for tires
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Hankook&tireModel=Ventus+Z214&sidewall=Blackwall&partnum=25ZR6Z214C51&tab=Sizes

ET25 isn't the best, but can be done. Really a 30 would be better.

Re: Ahuzen's 2002 SVT Build
so what do you all think about Basset wheels? im debating on getting a set in 15x8s. they clear SVT brakes, are cheap, and lightweight. i just need to figure up the backspacing needed

Re: Ahuzen's 2002 SVT Build
the largest backspacing you can get on an 8" wheel is like 5.5" ... which translates to ~ET22 IIRC ... so they're gonna poke like 8" cobra reps

Re: Ahuzen's 2002 SVT Build
which would equal out to about 1" less poke than the Enkeis that are on there now. i could live with 1" of poke

Re: Ahuzen's 2002 SVT Build
What Josh said. I was going to do Diamond Racing wheels earlier this year, and like he said the max backspacing they can do is 5.5". Might be good for you, but I didn't want it.

Re: Ahuzen's 2002 SVT Build
or in my case a hearty pull and roll or flares
i settled on aiming for Street Modified class under SCCA solo rules. im allowed whatever width, tire, or size i want as far as that goes. i just need to research what else i need to get set up and what im allowed to do

Re: Ahuzen's 2002 SVT Build
turns out im going have to track down so random pieces of interior. i still have most of it, but i need to add the majority of it back to fit into SMF. everything but the rear seats and mounting hardware. sorta makes me regret throwing away the headliner and carpet lol
