Plans for Goldmember
Starting one of these, and will more or less be my FR '11 build, as well as just in general for my car. As of right now it's sitting in my barn, still untouched That and the fact it's about 15° outside right now too. Anyways, I'll be moving it up to the front of the barn this weekend so if I want to get a start on it this winter, It's not behind all of the other shit in there (31' RV, Diesel Truck, and 3 Old Cars). Here's what I have planned for next spring/summer:
HAVE IT RUNNING OF COURSE! - RUNNING!!!
Rock Chromie's old rusted hood to FR
SVT Front Bumper
Mach 1 Lip
Edit - COILS ACQUIRED!Going to try and have coils by summer
Painted trunk strip and have the rear bumper fixed
Have my exhaust shortened - sticks out too far past the rear bumper
That's about it. Lame I know That's what happens when you work at McDonald's! Also, I'm coming down to Florida at the end of February to visit! So I gotta pay for my plane ticket and other expenses too. Not to mention gas/lodging/food for Carlisle.

Re: Plans for Goldmember
I don't think that the rusted hood would look quite right on the gold.
Best part of the entire post.

I personally love the Mach 1 Lip on the SVT Bumper. Makes it look much more aggressive.

Re: Plans for Goldmember
So I'm starting a coilover fund. Kind of having a hard time deciding on what I should save for. Do I want to go the cheap route and buy Racelands just go be low? Or save for Ksports?

Re: Plans for Goldmember
KSPORTs
The new design looks nice, gives you the full strut travel at all ranges of height adjustment

I went from a couple spring setups on my H&Rs to Ksports and I couldn't be happier.

Re: Plans for Goldmember
I think I may just purchase the rears and look for something else to run up front. Eibach won't sell me just a single strut, so it's all or nothing. And I really don't know if I want to spend $400 on the coils just to find out that I can't fix the one.

Re: Plans for Goldmember
Just picked up/stole from Josh :p Mach's for $185 shipped. The passenger side needs a 3M kit taken to it, and the driver's side is almost perfect, but has the two top tabs broken. Included all ballasts and bulbs, as well as the VW wiring harness.

Re: Plans for Goldmember
I hate you!
Good luck with that broken top tab. The fender tab doesn't really matter, I have yet to own a set of headlights without at least one broken fender tab. But that middle one will matter. I have a spare set of headlights I was going to cut apart for the tab...hopefuly you do too

Re: Plans for Goldmember
No, but I could probably run to the junkyard and find a headlights and see if I can JB Weld a tab onto it. If enough of the tab is still there, I can probably just use a big ass washer to hold it in place. Either way, they'll work

I have a set of headlights with good tabs that I was going to throw out. If you want the tabs or whatever let me know Blakey.

Pulled out of the barn today to move it to the front so it's easily accessible when I want to start on it.

Wet sand it with 1000 then 2000, then use the plastic X on a polisher. It will look brand new.

Re: Plans for Goldmember
the passenger side needs more then plastx its fed in the ass, i would go with the 3m stuff then get em clear coated if theres a body shop that can do it right so it doesn't turn yellow after two years. it looks like it needs to be sanded as well. but looks like there are thin cracks... my old non hid svts i got are like that won get them out.

Re: Plans for Goldmember
Yes I was planning on using the 3M kit, then putting Lamin-X over them. Up here in the dirty north, the sun doesn't fuck up the headlights as bad as it does in the south.
