Re: Just digging my stance today
No I don't rub I came close on one big speed bump but I took at an angle and my buddy hopped out and watched it he said it was close and I wish now we would have snapped pics. Now with a passenger in the car the rear tires rub when turning tight or on big bumps
Eurobloke where the heck is your car at you rag on stance but I have yet to see your whip and it is low my pinch weld without me in it has 3.5" of ground clearance when my fat butt sits down its 3" and thats plenty low for me. And the tires tuck pretty darn well to.

My car current sits a clearance of two 1/2 fingers from my frame, to the ground... i'll be lower before next saturday as I dial stance with my new wheels.
Daily drivin'. I've gone through 3 oil pans. i'm on #4. They're trophies.
I will say, You have a good looking Focus, but it's not "stance". Just sayin'. Lower it.

On the iphone right now but when I get home I'll post pics of my lincoln I had before this and it was slammed!

Re: Just digging my stance today
Well heres what I am gonna be going for when I get my wagon
And this is my old lincoln
It was great slammed I did a complete one off custom suspension on it to get that look and even small speed bumps = GREAT danger lol. I'd love to do it again however when I get the wagon I am going to run coilovers because we have road flooding issues here and more than once I had to grab a ride from someone else during the rainy season because my exhaust was pipes where going scuba diving lol

Car looks good. I don't know if I'd call that tucking or not, but it DOES look half decent. What are you running on now? I can't remember..

Eibach sportlines SVT dampers its got a slight tuck you can't really do anymore unless you cut the fender wells

Re: Just digging my stance today
Trust me, you can
A lot of it is the tires you're running. That's the only reason it tucks is because they're fairly tall, and it rubs because they are a little wider than most people at a similar height run. Also makes the car look like it sits higher than it really should.
No worries though, as long as you're happy with where it sits, thats all that matters. Clean off those tires though mang, they need some tire shine! (Sorry, I'm really anal about that kind of stuff...I run a detailing biz so I can't help it haha )

Scraping on an Eibach Pro-Kit is an inability to drive cautiously. And with that slight drop you really don't have to be cautious at all....

Re: Just digging my stance today
Yeah I don't scrape and I sit pretty low lol like just 4" at the pinch weld the rear tires rub some on huuuuge bumps with two people in the car but I have yet to scrape just gotta know how to drive low. Though this winters gonna suck I'll be up in NH so the foc will proably be benched for the winter season, gonna try and get a beater truck or something.

Good for them my foc is getting a car cover and mice repellent this winter plus I have 0 snow experience so it would be pretty stupid of me to try and learn in the car I love.

Re: Just digging my stance today
BigBrooklyn83 does scrap the ground at time... i seen it. some of the roads in st. pete/clearwater are pretty bad inclines to get into some places. mine use to scrap with ppl in the car... Ted also has or had a big ass sound system the belonged in a semi truck lol. anyways seeing all this low focus' the next one i get will need to be lowered tucking tires at least.

Inclines....take em at a 45 degree angle, problem solved.
For a while I was on Sportlines and 205-40-17 tires. My bumper was was not far from the ground. But I survived. It's not hard, it just takes paying attention and some creativity at times.

Best advice I can give you: Whatever you're driving, the first storm..go out to a BIG open parking lot and fuck around. Randomly slam on the brakes, try to recover. Rip the ebrake while turning, countersteer and recover. The focus is particular is a BEAST in the snow with good snow tires, mine was seriously a tank. The only time I got stuck was when I was drifting in an unplowed lot, and slid ontop of 2 ft of snow...
The more you screw off and recover the better a driver you'll be on the road.
And, you aren't low kidding...though you are too low for winter. Stock height in almost too low. Most of the michigan guys run aggressive snows on 6 inch wheels, with a large outside diameter so they may still be on coilovers that are cranked down, but in cars that arent anywhere near as low as during summer.

Re: Just digging my stance today
No, I have read (forget where, but I know I did) that the MI guys were sitting LOWER durig the winter than they are now because they were running smaller wheels with smaller tires. They were snowplows

Re: Just digging my stance today
True, some of them do run smaller OD tires. They run narrow wheels though so theres no issues with rubbing at least. My focus stock was a snowplow, I'm tempted to drive mine this winter but I have too much money in it at this point. I want to get another focus because it was THAT good in the snow.

Re: Just digging my stance today
Yeah well promised the fiance I would let it rest this winter I might take it out a few times to see how it does, but one of the main roads I am going to have to travel on a regular basis is pretty rough and has some nasty potholes, and I am sure when those are covered with snow and you can't see them it could equal some nasty focus carnage. Maybe next year after I get coilovers and can adjust the height I might but this winter it'll see minimal snowage. For now I am getting the hookup on a beater truck when I get up their.

Re: Just digging my stance today
I wouldn't recommend running coilovers in the winter unless you clean the car FREQUENTLY. The salt will eat at the threads VERY quickly, and you won't be able to adjust them come spring. They're seize in the few months you drive through the winter with them. It's easier to buy coilovers, and swap them with stock suspension for winter. Once you've done it a few times it takes less than 2 hours to do the entire suspension. Hell, I can swap my rear springs and shocks in under 30 minutes at this point

Re: Just digging my stance today
...Right. Even high quality stainless steel will get damaged by salt in the threads. If it doesn't rust, turning the adjusters over salt will damage the threads.
What would you consider 'quality' coilovers? You name it I can guarantee I've seen it rust up here.

Of course everything rusts...sorry if you didn't find the humor in my post. I suppose I should have been more liberal with my use of smilies. Most of those who know me around here would probably call me a suspension snob, and I was mostly just playing into that role...
At any rate, like you said, even the higher end stuff will eventually rust if care is not taken to prevent it. There are numerous products that can be bought that are intended to be periodically sprayed on the threads and exposed steel parts of the coilovers, and they actually work pretty well from what I've seen, at least when used on the "name-brand" setups.
I have many friends running around with winter-driven coilover-equipped cars in Chicago and central IL, and their setups still look pretty good after multiple winters and proper maintenance (i.e., reasonably frequent washings, and use of either some sort of lube or spray-on "sealant" product).
I've even seen guys use WD-40. Of course, none of those guys are driving around on D2s, BCs, Ksports, Stance, Tein, or any of the other of the brands I'd consider to be "sub-par."
