Focus Rising (@ Carlisle Ford Nationals) June 4 - June 6, 2010

I know a lot of people from the Southern half of the state made it up to Carlisle in '09. Let's make it better next year.

I figured we could discuss any plans we might have for a group trip all the way up there. Would make for a hell of a convoy if ALL of the Florida crew could get together for the trip.

I know at least two cars from Jax will be going ... hopefully we double or triple that by showtime. I would love to see 20+ cars all leaving the state as one unit.

I am going to start a roll call right now. If you KNOW you are going to be going, then let me know so we can start getting some kind of idea of the numbers in play here.

I'm hoping to go. Depends on whether or not I have a house by then, and the Daytona meet doesn't cost me too much (which it shouldn't, unless we have an uber crazy hotel party and shyt gets broken...)

Don't put my name on the list yet but I'm hoping to go. I gotta find someone to go with me who would be willing to go halvesies otherwise it'll be too costly.

If I was in the predicament of definitely go to Daytona an maybe go to Carlisle, I'd nix Daytona and for sure go to Carlisle in a hearteat We can go to Daytona whenever, Carlisle is a once a year deal

but carlisle is like a 20 hour drive from Miami.....thats like 5 tanks of gas....1 way....

Daytona is only 45 min away. I'm not worried about that affecting my financial situation.

Silver Springs isn't too much farther than that...

Josh, what are our plans for when we are leaving to go up there? I need to know so I can put in for my vacation time now. They changed the way it works this year, we have to have the paperwork in by Friday.

The show is June 4th to 7th (Friday - Sunday) but I figured we'd leave Thursday night (the earier the better) and come back either Monday morning or Sunday after the show and drive through the night.

It'd be cool to meet up with other groups if it'll work out for the drive up

There's supposed to be over 100 Foci there this year from around the country (mainly the east coast though). Even if I don't still own a Focus, I'll still go (but chances are I'll still have my SVTf)

There will be an area within the show where we will all park together, and most everyone will be staying at Hotel Carlisle

sounds great i think i am going to wait to register next month, the darn military is so unpredictable thanks so much for the wonderful info. i know they are going to have a area for all the focus but are all of us from the flordia crew going to be together.

I don't see why we wouldn't be. Rob and I will definitely be together as we are splitting a room (but not in a gay way )

I know the goal is to get 100 Foci there this year...I hope we do!

It is definitely possible, but Focus owners tend to be flakes when it comes time to do what they said they will. I really hope there's 100 cars there this summer, but I'll believe it when I see it.

I am so glad I'm not married (Josie tried to control my car modding...so I kept buying things I didn't necessarily want/need at the time haha)

What you have to do DJ is become the master of "OMG this is a GREAT deal!! If I don't order it now it's going to cost $XX more when I order it next year when I'm allowed to mod my car again"

Yeah and then when i tell her what a great deal it is and how much more it cost she starts the well if its going to cost that much you dont need it anyway spech.

And that is when you tell her she doesn't need the name brand makeup or the gucci bag and that store brand sandwich bread is all you HAVE to buy for sandwiches.

yeah but she is already cheap thats the problem...i have the money to do just about everything that can be done to my car...for some reason she worries about not having money.

Well that's good to hear she's cheap too and not telling you to not buy car parts while she's out buying $500 handbags. Try what I do...buy stuff, put it on the car, and see how long it takes the lady to notice it

I once had an entirely new set of wheels and tires on my car for about 2 weeks before Adrienne noticed (the RBs on the white Focus).

One day we were getting into the car and she was like, "Hey, are these new wheels?"

I said, "Oh no, I've had these for quite some time..."



I wasn't exactly lying...

my dad turned the corner onto our street and said "oo, robert got something new for his car." my mom, in the car, couldnt figure out what it was until he told her.

you know the crazy part i am about 90 percent sure that she is coming with me on the trip is it june yet i need a break from work

Have the registartion price been set for the Focus Rising part of the event .... for the bbq and whatnot?

BBQ Lunch on Saturday and Sunday at the event will be provided by the organizers, but we do ask you attend the Award's / Dinner Banquet on Saturday Night at Hotel Carlisle which runs $30. We are renting a ballroom and having the hotel cater dinner for that event. All sponsor giveaways will be raffled off then and the Focus Rising Awards will be handed out then. The $30 covers the cost of the Ballroom, Dinner and will help pay a little of the event costs such as some of the BBQ, Awards, and other costs. We are making no money off this, we actually have to put up a little for this but wanted the cost to be reasonable.

Trust me the dinner menu is amazing, and it's a great way to bring the community together.

Also, we are doing a Toy Drive for Kennedy Kreiger Institute at the Dinner Banquet to show our support for the community.

Yup 30 per head, the first 20 to register will receive a Focus Rising Decal, and while it may not be much at least it's something, and the decal going to the first twenty are the only ones being manufactured in Silver per our agreement with one of our sponsors, Hendricks Design Studio.

Why do you have number1187svt or whatever his name was 's car for the logo? Is he still around? I havent seen him post in forever Don't get me wrong, it's a great looking car...I just think it's kinda funny how some cars stick around for a while and get used long after the owner disappears.


I'm still kinda up in the air about the dinner thing. It seems like it'll be cool, but I kind wanted to go out Saturday night. I guess once I get unbanned I'll see how many people regitered for it and I'll decide if I'm gonna sign up. Just out of curiosty, is your paypal account setup so you guys don't lose money to fees? If not, I'll add the fees in if/when I send the money

Greg aka Auto on FF has been my logo guy for the past two years and I asked him to switch it up with an SVT for this year instead of his SAP ST that we did for last year's logo. 1187's car just happened to be the one Greg used this year. Next year I'm not sure what type we want to use, although I've been thinking a Roush or Wagon would be cool to use, we'll see what happens in July or August when the 2011 Event get's announced formally.

We did a poll on those that would be interested in the dinner banquet back in September of 2009 if I remember correctly, we had about 50 members agree on the dinner banquet as last year as many can tell you, finding one place for all the attendee's to eat without having to wait forever to be seated or without mobbing the place is hard to find on Ford Nationals weekend in Carlisle. Also Parking is a BEYOTCH! Carlisle doesn't have many bars or places to go out to at night as it is kind of one of them old PA Civil War towns that doesn't have much going on other than the 10 weekends a year that something is going on at their fairgrounds. So this year instead of making the trek out which many complained about along with the wait at area restaurants we decided to centralize everything at the hotel. And if your worried about drinking and such things, don't worry that will happen afterwards and into the night at the hotel from the parking lot to the pool to the rooms and corridors just as it has in year's past. Plus also you get to see the muscle car tool bags lighting them up on the street out front the hotel.

As for the dinner, so far we have about 10 Attendee's PAID for the Dinner with more planning to pay as soon as taxes come in. Usually for Registration and other Carlisle things we see people starting paying and reserving hotels right around the beginning of March to late April, so even though 10 paid so far, it's right on course with where we usually are when it comes to registration and things like this.

Plus as many are too hungover to make it up to Carlisle on Sunday or leave early, we wanted to do the awards prior to then so people can take their time on Sunday.

As for the Paypal, if you send it as a Gift there is no Paypal Fees, that is what Sean my Co-Organizer (The Banquet, Hotel, and Carlisle Coordinator) is instructing everyone to do. If there is a change in plans with the banquet from us or the hotel the money will be refunded in full that way.

For next year's logo I vote for Mark's (98LowRanger) super sexy LG Euro hatch or Sean's (Spatakula) Rieger'd SVT
