Re: D2 Coilovers..yep..i got them..YUP.
So you won't spend good money on something that gets used every day but you'll spend $500 on a glorious golden GameBoy that is old technology and will just sit on a shelf? Okay...HEDBNGR wrote:I wouldn't spend more than $30 on a purse, lol.
I don't like spending a lot of money on things that have practical use like clothes, shoes, wallets/purses and wheels. They get used, abused, and damaged so I don't want to spend a lot of money. Plus, name brands mean nothing to me. I know what goes on behind the scenes or overseas with the cheap labor.
If it was something that didn't have practical use, like collectables, then I have no problem spending money. I once put a $500 bid on a gold Gameboy SP with a Zelda Triforce and signed by Shigeru Miyamoto (only 30 made). I lost though. It sold for just over $800.
But I guess I just don't know what "good wheels" actually cost though.

Some people like to collect stuff. I personally like to collect burned troll heads that smell like broccoli and fossilized Russian horse hooves. Oh, and I forgot my obsession with purple socks with masonic symbols sewn on the sides.

Checked out the new wheels and left you a comment. I dig em yo. You ever thought about putting a pink stripe down the center of each spoke? Maybe 6 inches long and about 1/2 in wide. I think that would look nice but then again I collect socks.

Damn seems like everyone is digging the idea with the pink in the indented section of the wheel

Personally, I think it would look like every other crappy ass "chick-tuner" with pink wheels or pink lugs or pink decals. But that's my opinion .... and I am known for my bad taste.

I don't think an all-pink wheel would look good, but the indent painted pink would be a nice subtle touch and it'll look good if you get the right color pink

Re: D2 Coilovers..yep..i got them..YUP.
I think it would look bad against the silver wheels and silver car. It would have to be a dark pink, like Panther Pink ..... and then it would clash with all the other pick in your car.
If the wheels were black, and you did the indentions pink, then they would really pop off the wheel .... but with the wheels staying silver, no. No no no no.

Re: D2 Coilovers..yep..i got them..YUP.
I will have to disagree. I think a little pink would look nice. A light pink (think baby pink) would go well with the silver but you would have to be careful not to do too much. Too much pink would overwhelm them and make them look "tuner chick".

Re: D2 Coilovers..yep..i got them..YUP.
I'm a collector and that's what I do. The game Chrono Trigger for SNES has sold on Ebay for over $1500 when in factory sealed condition.
If I had a good reason to spend $250 per wheel I would. But I guess buying wheels and tires for just $38 each spoiled me.
But I don't know about the pink wheels. I've seen them on white cars and with the right accents it looks good. But pink and silver... maybe use one of those online wheel selectors and see what pink looks like on a silver focus?

Whatcha gonna get? IMO you should go aftermarket...I had 2 sets of OEM SVT whels and whil they were nice, I my Team Dynamics. Same size, much lighter, and slightly lower offset so they sit a little more flush with the fenders

Technically, I don't think that's a "multi-lug pattern."
The "in-between" holes don't have any sort of lug nut or bolt seat and don't look like they could be used to fasten the wheels to the hub...

autozone :-) $14.00 or so for the bushings and washers. The kit with new links is like $30.00. I, however, know a way to buy that kit and retro fit them onto the stock endlinks :-P and didn't spend the $30.00 she did.

Re: D2 Coilovers..yep..i got them..YUP.
these were energy suspension. Remember, with massive, you have to pay shipping ;-) and they aren't lite. Theyre a universal kit. FYI, if you decide on just the bushings and washers, use a rasp and take off the finish of the washers where they go over the endlink, its JUUUSt enough where it wont go over the stock link bolt. I'll do a how too if you'd like.
O yeah, and I know a guy thjat works at auto-zone, DISCOUNT! They became like $10...

True about shipping, but I'd buy them with a complete set of Koni dampers, so that extra 5 pounds would amount to nothing.
If it's easy enough to snap some pics of what you did, that would be great
If I don't buy some before the next time I wander down to Tampa, I'll make Evan give me his discount on some lol

Re: D2 Coilovers..yep..i got them..YUP.
its pretty easy other than the new poly bushings are suuuuper hard and slighly bigger than the stock bushings, so an extra set of hands to push up on both ends of the sway to re-attach the bottom bolt is good (it was tough, don't think some of the feminie persuasion could pull it off). I had my dad help me there, but thats it. Pics on sunday, going to orlando for work tomorrow night and friday all day, friday night = crash after 20 hr day, and saturday is cleaning grandmother #2's house....

I got the whole thingy for $30. They didn't have the part number I needed (these are slightly longer than stock ones) all they had were like super long.. no thanks. But my dad helped me since i cant really hold a ratchet on the bolt and use a wrench at the top.. Im a girl, my muscles and humongo yo.

Ha.
I looked at the photo on the previous page and thought to myself, "those look longer than they should be..."
I guess I was right.
If it were my car, I'd get the proper length links on there. You don't want any unnecessary binding going on, which could happen with links that are too long.

She got the longer ones so the bottom of the endlink was closer to the ground so her tree sat lower. Cheater.

Binding as in, uh, binding....
Using longer links puts the ends of the sway bar (and therefore the holes that the endlinks go through) in a different position than they should be, relative to the control arms.
Now, will the swaybar still function with a slightly incorrect static position? Yes. Is the difference in length between the ones you have and the ones you should have going to cause any large handling deficits? Probably not.
BUT, your swaybar rate has changed dynamically somewhat, and the longer those links are the more quickly they will wear (as the increased length creates more of a "leverage" force upon the bushings).
I'm just saying that if it were my car, I'd use the proper links...
