The build of SVT #3658
I bought my SVT almost 3 years ago, and it has gone through a bunch of changes...
The day I bought it:
Parked next to what it replaced
First time at the beach:
I had it for 6 days when I let my dad's best friend's wife drive it...and the aftermath:
The flywheel was warped too....
It was down for 3 weeks while the shop I took it to kept getting sent the wrong parts by Ford....I'm prety sure I got one of the last clutches before the huge backorder that went on for months. $1300 to fix
It put a bad taste in my mouth, but I stuck with it and started modding....with the first mod being the foglight mod and token EAPs
Next up were a Euro grille, a build number sticker, a Ford GT shift knob, and some audio stuff (10 inch sub in the factory box and a JBL amp under the passenger seat):
Next up was to cut off that God awful exhaust and the addition of an SAP diffuser:
And I got a new rear section made:
Then thanks to an awesome deal I got from Mike at Hilbish it got dropped on KW/FRPP 1.6 springs. I also picked up some ST170s
Painted my AC vents flat black for a more Euro look:
ST170 center console!
Another trip to the beach....
The one and only time I've had to use my donut (knock on wood):
Picked up some Euro window switched hoping to utilize the auto down and auto up feature, but it involved MUCH more than just th swiches so I resold them...
Clear corners!
Picked up a Borla...finally, a real exhaust!
Changing my oil in the rain...gotta hate Florida's weather getting in the way of our plans.
More pics of the ST170 center console, and my custom golf ball shft knob:
Moved up (well, down technically ) in the suspension dept with some Sportlines. Also got my hatch strip painted, and finally got a new front lip that didn't have a hole in it
KW:
Sportlines:
I made a fairly unpopular decision and bought a pair of MACHs and installed them in favor of my ST170s....I didn't like the look of them at first but LOVED the light output
(and with the encouragement of Karl, Kris, and others spent a few hours cleaning my core support)
Got an RS wing for my birthday!
New sticker...
First Auto-X!
Drove to Tampa for an impromptu G2G and to pick something up
Sanded and polished my MACHs...a good before and after shot
After years of searching, I FINALLY got a Hofele grille!!
Thinking it was repairable, I bought a used VIS carbon hood....turned out to be full of gel coat cracks and not just a shitty clear job, so it came off th car and went in the shed rather quickly
Before selling them, I put the 5 spokes back on my car for a couple days. I still miss them to this day
Random pic
Getting some new tires...
Hit a fairly large milestone a few months back
Still looks pretty decent for over 150k...
Rolled my fenders due to the never ending rubbing!
And the most recent addition, and probably my favorite thing on the car....I got that crappy VIS CF hood painted but left a key part wih the carbon still visible
Before:
After
Sorry those ^ pictures suck, I took them with my phone. Those \/ are much better
Why put a build number sticker on your car when you can paint a CF hood CD Silver and have the carbon show your build number in Saleen font? I friggin love this hood!!!!!
Also new to the car are the Facelift headlights (which I have since pulled off and put the MACHs back on....and want to sell)
Left to install on the car are:
A Focus Cental short throw shifter
And my Euro ST170 gauge cluster, but I won't install it until I get an S170 badge for the rear and a Duratec ST badge for the spark plug cover under the hood
There are probably a bunch of things I forgot about when making this thead as I just went through my photobucket to get a good idea ofthe timeline. Just now I remembered I didn't put anything above about my Steeda Short Ram, my ported TB, my Ford rubber floor mats, my EBC brakes, the custom bracket for my SAP diffuser so it doesn't flop in the wind, and other stuff...
As of today it has 159,XXX miles on it, and I gave it a bath as it was getting dark outside
New ones from tonight...

Re: The build of SVT #3658
Just gave my car some attention
Put my new Euro plate (EURO-ISH) on my car a little bit ago. Also threw on my Massive signature purple oil cap (let me know if you want to buy my FocusSport one) and gave it a spot cleaning (Stoners'd the windows, wiped off some dirt, and put some tire shine on the tires). And I made a new shift knob....goodbye Greg Norman golf ball, hello Maxfli golf ball

Re: The build of SVT #3658
Nice. i dont plan on showing mine until i get something on it.
i have been saving for a borla, BSD kit, FS header, Koni shocks/struts, & H&R race springs. i have all the brakes except the line because no one makes them for the 05-07 caliper design.

Thanks man. Don't wait, start putting pics up and take more as you progress. IMO it's not as fun just seeing the result as it is following along with the build and watching it progress

Re: The build of SVT #3658
Thanks I miss the ST170s as well, but since buying MACHs I don't think I could ever get rid of them...the light output is fantastic
The other day Rob and I changed the serpentine tensioner and pulley, but not the belt. Why? Because Advance Auto Parts sucks left nut and sold me a belt that was ~2 inches longer than my old, stretched out belt. I'm about ot go return it now....

My own Euro Pimpness
ST170 Front bumper!! Well, it doesn't have the ST170 projector fogs in it...it's got the standard fogs, but I like them better
It's got a crack though....
I'll have to get a new foglight and a lower grille, but for $125, how the hell could I say no? I'm driving up to Jacksonville, NC on Saturday to get it

Thinking about getting a 2.5 inch flex pipe from Mandrel Exhaust Systems AKA Trubendz. Apparently their quality has gone up dramatically in the recent past, so that's a plus.
Review thread, lots of useless banter in there though, gotta love how just about every thread on FF turns into a OT thread

I'd definately be making a claim to. That wasn't just one hard bump along the way, that thing got treated like a red headed step child.

Re: The build of SVT #3658
The weird thing is that the box didn't really have any damage to it....so more than likely it got damaged at some point in a warehouse over in Europe and they didn't see it because it was wrapped up in its packaging. That doesn't matter to me though, I'm putting it through Parcel Force and hopefully I get a new one and can use this to experiment with

Re: The build of SVT #3658
I just placed yet another order for parts for my car
I bought HID bulbs for my new foglights (The SVT fogs are H10 and the facelift fogs are H11...ugh), some headlight bulbs, and some chrome turn signal bulbs. Why would I want chrome bulbs when my blinkers have amber lenses? I'm going to buy these in the near future
Trevor emailed me back almost immediately, he passed the claim along to the FordPartsUK shipping department and the are going to handle it for me.

Re: The build of SVT #3658
Will do, but I'm gonna want fair market value for them.
Currently if you walk into Ford and buy two brand new MACH headlights, they are about $900 per side
Mine are in pretty much perfect shape and have Lamin-X over the lenses to keep them looking nice, and they have no broken tabs. When they go up for sale they are going to be $650 plus any shipping, PayPal fees, and/or gas money

Thanks guys
As a bonus, if you buy mine and then go to a VW dealership and buy the wiring components (2 plugs and like 14 leads) and come down to Jacksonville I'll even wire your car up for you And trust me, it's not a quick or fun process if you don't know what you're doing. I've done my car and David's when I sold him my ST170s (cdsilver bullit) and neither of us have any problems with my wiring job

So they shipping company is being a giant douche and won't do anything about my damaged grille. Apparently I was supposed to open up every package with the delivery dude standing there and check it all before allowing him to leave. What a crock load of s***.
But Trevor is completely awesome and FordPartsUK is crediting me the cost of the grille!
So if anyone needs new Euro parts, make sure you order from Trevor at FordPartsUK.com!!!!
