Build progress
this is to help keep track of progress and for my finding's along the way.
Mods:
Top speed kit w/GTX3071R TiAL Vband housing .63 A/R
3" turbo back aluminum exhaust with two mufflers
Cosworth intake manifold
Steeda STS
H&R Coil-overs with H&R 350lbs race springs in the back with 21mm steeda bar
Dom's front control arms
CFM race bushing mount
Torsen LSD
Work EMotion CR-Kai 17x7
**** Getting greedy ****
Future Plans:
Built engine w/ head work
Cosworth intake manifold (have)
Results:
Stage 2 (GT2560R) vs my N/A setup which consisted of header, cai, stock secondary cat-back exhaust 2.25"
2871R with 2.5" race exhaust, boost tapered off to about 9/10 psi which cost me some power

Re: Build progress
I have seen better also lol. There have been some awesome builds over the past few years and I'm drooling over what people have been doing recently.
It was up for sale due to some serious family financial issues. Fortunately, the issue has been (kinda) resolved. I'll admit it was depressing posting that ad but I rather let go of the car before dipping into savings.

i'd rock the 3076 with the better flowing duratec engine. can get them ported for 35r cfm and 30r spool

Re: Build progress
I don't want to go too crazy with the power. I want a nice usable powerband for when I take the car out to track days (road courses). I will definitely go with a GT3076R or a GTX3076 if I get a built 2.3 just to leave that room for growth. If I stick with my 2.0 and get that built then I would go for the 2871R.
My power goals on 93 octane are:
340-400whp
250-310wtq
I add 100 octane when I go to the track to play it safe.

Re: Build progress
340-400 is close-ish to the limits of the 2871. youre tq will be higher than those goals, fyi, unless u get a very short runner intake mani

Saw an ad on FJ, PMed the seller immediately
I will only part with it, if I have to. If I ever need to modify the bumper for cooling or aero, then I would take it off and sell it.

Re: Build progress
It is big enough to work with all of their turbo options maxed out, so it's a perfect fit. On their 396 whp SEMA car they used the standard stage 2 intercooler with no issue

and I'm so glad they do
Since I'm not the brightest rock in the pile... I've been studying forced induction more in depth the last couple of weeks. I'm actually glad I'm starting to apply the algebra I've learned back in school. I've been using the garrett turbo tech center to build a basic understanding of how to get what I want from my build.

Damn hitch hikers
Rear disc goodness
Dropped the manifold off to be notched so it will clear my damn power steering and patiently waiting on the turbo which should be in by noon tomorrow

Re: Build progress
GT2871R (T25) with .86 hot side installed and tuned! So far I simply love it.
It does not seem laggy at all to me with a 2.0L Duratec. The car just keeps on pulling until red line, and I was surprised at how fast it got to redline in the first place. I thought I blew off a coupler somewhere but it was just me hitting the rev limiter too fast
I'd imagine with a .64 hot side on the T25 manifold this turbo will spool stupid quick and make really good top end power on the 2.0L. If any of y'all reading this decide to go the FI route; I highly recommend the upgrade to the 2871R when you first purchase a kit or what ever you put together.
Next time I put the car on the dyno, it will be for a more aggressive tune for track days in which I will run 100 octane to play it safe-ish on the stock block.
Got these parts from Jim's race car [FJ]. Jim has giving these control arms plenty of abuse so I feel they are solid, roads around here are pretty flat and in good condition unless you travel to the wrong side of town.
Steering weight feels a lot lighter; suspension feels tight and precise, looking forward to my next track day. I also lowered the front coils 1/4". My tax return was accepted today so I will put some of it towards Dominic's suspension bits... well quite a few lol. I will opt to have them painted red to go along with my H&R springs.
Install was very simple and straight forward. Either tomorrow or next week I will knock out the rear disc swap. The co-owner of the garage is willing to show me how to weld my waste gate flange to my manifold. Hopefully all goes well also
Any one know where I can find a Dyno Jet in Jacksonville?

Thanks guys, the lip will be back in time for FR and FF I still have it
Talked to the guy that owns the garage some more and he will have a pipe bender I can use within the next month so I will hold off on welding a flange for my external waste gate. That way I can bend my dump pipe if I need to reroute it.

Just had it 5 minutes ago , damn near killed these two bikers when I cut across traffic when I spotted a 5 guys on the way back from picking up a lip and rally spoiler.
Forgot to update this thread:
GTX3071R TiAL Vband .63 A/R housing
Top Speed Tubular top mount manifold and charge piping
83 lb injectors
3" Downpipe
Ceramic Coating
Tial Q Bov
Ranger crank
Will get a 3" exhaust eventually to compliment my downpipe.
Then dropping in a built 2.3 with 9:1 CP Pistons; rods will most likely be carillos super A-Beams. I will experiment with N/A cams and have work done to my head. I want it to flow up to 300 CFM.
Max power goal is 500whp for ****s and giggles.
As the car sits now.
Turbo
I'm confident that this setup will out spool my 2871R FSW kit by a couple of hundred RPM's. Will get a fancy boost controller to help keep the power manageable through out the RPM band.

Re: Build progress
Did your original seats have air bags? If so, are the connectors on the Recaros the same as your original seats?
I'd disconnect your battery, disconnect the seats, let it sit for 5-10min, reconnect the seats and then reconnect the battery. If that doesn't work, you'll have to take it somewhere that can read air bag lights and have it cleared.

No they did not have air bags. I swapped the harness from my seat onto the Recaro's since the connectors where different. I'll give that a shot during lunch, thanks.

oddly enough it was not throwing a code out when I tried to read it with my X3 device. The airbag light would come on after start up
I'll write one up or find one of the old threads on FJ when people were asking about it and add my input. I thought of it while I was folding my laundry

The airbag doesn't throw a code through the OBD II system. It flashes when you turn on the car and you count the flashes for the code.
