Post by SVT3658 on 2010-06-14, 11:45 pm

I just commented on that pic on the FSWERKS page Very Happy

Josh, do it! My love for my car has been re-kindled in the past few months. I was about ready to be rid of it, but I'm glad I didn't...and it has come a long way recently. It still needs a bunch of work though, neither bumper matches the car very well so I need to get them repainted. Preferably sooner than later....but it'll probably be later Sad

well most bumpers will never match due to the difference in material i.e. plastic and metal, it took our best painter a work 6 weeks to get the shading right for a shelby gt500 owner to be happy... its just hard to get a good match.. unless your car is cd silver and the bumpers are silver frost.. but i will say silver is the best color to work with.

oh and BTW why did you want to get rid of it a few months ago?

Yeah but they are WAY off, not just a little. I creatively post pictures that help hide it Wink

I was sick of it, to be honest. The Focus scene in Jax was pretty much dead, and nothing big and inspiring was happening online. There was nothing new and exciting going on to keep me interested, and i was having some problems with the car. AC was broken, clutch was really wearing out, it was really starting to show its age, etc. Nothing much had changed in a while and I couldn't really afford to go all out any buy tons of crap for it.

All the while I was hanging out with my friends who are hardcore into their VWs, doing all kinds of crap with them and having pretty big G2Gs fairly often. That kind of stuff wasn't happening with the Focus people.

But then I lucked out on the Euro front, got a SMOKING deal on the Recaros, and a bunch of people started posting online doing crazy things. Like dumping the crap out of the cars. Jax people slowly atarted hanging out more, and I got to know Rob a lot better and hung out with him a freaking lot, and was having a lot of fun doing so. And then I met some really awesome people at Carlisle, and have been inspired to keep on going at it with my car. Since Feb I've been re-enjoying my car more and more, and I'm back to loving having it.

And tonight I got the Euro rear, which is awesome. And I contacted someone who I thought had something I needed for the bumper, and he in fact did. So I have that taken care of now, and the bumper will be complete here shortly, for a lot less than I was planning to spend Very Happy

Sorry for the long and probably whiny-sounding novel, lol. But long story short, I am back in it 110% with my car, and even though I'm broke as shit I will keep modding it and having fun with it. And the ONLY way I'd consider selling it was if I found a silver 04 D23 fully optioned car for cheap, but as much as I say I would I don't know if I actually would switch cars

So you want one like mine was just 3 door? lmao good luck finding one Jeremy from the gump crew found one identical as mine bujt in a 3 door 5 spd for me but with my money problems right now i missed out on it. i also read through the thread and seen where you asked me about pictures of my car and the answer is no i did not have any it was going to be a surprise at a upcoming meet before the car was wrecked. i can tell you it looked just like this. minus the svt sides and front lip, the front lip i had is like on the black car.

this is what it looked like last you saw it minus the mud... around the time we had the bad hurricanes

I was going to order a set of these wheels

I know what you mean Josh, I was about done with my car a couple years ago then I found the sites and got back in to it. It seems like every time I feel like moving on I find a new part to change or add. That always makes it feel new again. Also a good wash and wax helps. And as far as your bumpers go, I'd say you're better off saving and painting the whole car. That's what I did.

Josh, don't waste money getting just bumpers painted. It's almost impossible for people to color match plastic with metal, and especially not with older ford paint. Your car still looks great, but it WILL look different. Do what I'm going to do...wait, save up for a full paint job from a GOOD shop, and add more metal flake in the silver Wink Maybe a pearl over the top too.

I hear you guys on the whole paint not matching, but I really want to get the bumper repainted mainly so that I can get the bottom painted as well. It looks weird as-is. The whole car definitely needs a new paintjob though

So wait Tongue For a GOOD paintjob on the bumper you'll spend a few hundred dollars...more if they're doing front and rear. And then it won't match, so you'll be pissed.

I have to save for months to broke mod. Heh. Just look how long it took me to get the suspension on the car. Even with stuff I have, I'm too lazy to install it these days. Have SVT front and rear swaybars, dogbone and a stock shifter to polish and install. With all that's going on at home, my car modding future was looking very bleak to say the least.

But I think i am starting to see a bit of light at the end of the tunnel. Hopefully anyway. And if that's the case, I has work to do. Wink

Well what's slightly helping motivate me to get it repainted is there's a bit of damage to it....Pat got softly rear-endedo it needs a little smoothing, which would require new paint anyway Wink

Somehow I totally missed this.....but I absolutely LOVE that color. What's weird though is I hate that color if the car is stock, but once it's got a few good mods (drop and wheels) it really starts looking nice.

When I respray mine it's more than likely gonna be going to white though

And yep with mine the base color is too light and there is nowhere near enough flake in either bumper compared to the car. Obviously my stock bumpers were a perfect match, but those bitches are long gone lol

I'm really surprised I don't see more in that color. Every once in a while I see a ZX5 or a sedan and very rarely a ZX3 in the color.

I do see a ton of SVTf and about a billion regular foci on a daily basis though. I guess that comes with living in metro-Detroit.

And I agree, very boring color.

I got bumper lights!!!!

They are both reverse lights (one LHD and one RHD), but they have a special touch. They are painted with a half and half mixture of clear and Panther Black (a high metallic black, a Europe-only color) so it's like niteshades but metallic.
