On the back burner, sedan build.
Ok, well.... this is my 2002 met gray SE i bought two years ago in oct. I didn't really have a lot planned for it when I bought it but after I began to really look the car over I decided to upgrade a few things. It been a ever so slow evolution and I still have lots in store. Here is a short time line up to the point I'm at right now.
The day I bought her.
The first thing I had to change was the headlight housings, the sliver just made the front of the car look too girly. Plus I'm not really huge into chrome. So I ordered a set of black housings and 8000k H4s.
Before:
After:
The next big thing was to get it closer to the ground.
Due to some really old tires that came on the car my next thing to do was look for some wheels and tires. After weeks of searching I found these for sale for cheap. As mentioned above I'm not a hug fan of chrome but I couldn't pass up the amazing deal, and I could learn to deal with the TLC required to keep chrome looking good.
18x7.5 ASA JH2 on 215/40ZR18 BFGoodrich G-force KDW2
I met up with the owner in a walmart parking lot, I had them on the car before I left.
Next on the list as a full tune up and I bought some focus sport performance wires from Massive.
After:
Several months go buy before I make my next purchase, SVT grille.
Then luckily I found a focus member parting out their SVT so I jumped on a couple more things.
Next on the list was to match my side markers with the head lights.

Re: On the back burner, sedan build.
Which brings me to this last weekend.
I bought a shorty antenna.
Then swapped out my factory air box for a cone filter to help out the oxygen getting to the motor.
My current project on my to do list is swap in some factory fogs with a SVT lower grille.
The back of the fog light.
I'm still waiting on the SVT lower to come in the mail. I currently working on a way to mount the fogs so I can use the SVT lower grille then I can wire everything up. I'm also ordering fog pig tails to help make the wiring easier.

I sincerely wish you hadn't put springs on stock dampers and HIDs in stock housings, but everything else looks great. I look froward to seeing the new lights and lower grill!

Ahhh, hahaha. The 8000K threw me off, they're just upgraded halogens? As far a suspension goes, we all learn our lessons somehow. I learned mine with tacky-ass shit on the outside of my car.

CLEAN YOUR ENGINE BAY!!!!!
1. Remove valve cover.
2. Replace valve cover gasket.
3. Paint valve cover wrinkle black and polish raised areas.
4. Reinstall & Profit!

Welcome to FLF, your life is about to change. Glad to see you made it over here.
Do what Josh (Dracconix) said on the valve cover.
And but time you buy decent shocks, your already half way to coil overs.

Re: On the back burner, sedan build.
ok guys im not trying to be ignorant or start an argument and most of u know im new to focus but what is so wrong about using springs and not coil overs...... i understand how much better a coil over setup is in performance but u guys talk like it is taboo to just use lowering springs and i have used them on mustangs for years and loved them and am seriously considering buying the eibach sportline pro kit that just dropped for the new focus

Re: On the back burner, sedan build.
Nothing is wrong with them, but the adjustability of coilovers is great. On a Focus, a GOOD spring and adjustable shock (H&R Race Spring and Koni Yellows) will be just barely less expensive than a pretty decent coilover setup ... and with the coilovers you have infinite height adjustablilty.
Foci look fantastic 3.5" or more lower than stock ,and no spring can get anywhere near that

Re: On the back burner, sedan build.
the new focus must sit lower because the bottom of the front bumper is only 3.5 inches from the ground......... now i have the factory sport package and i believe that is slightly lower than the base ride..........

Wrinkle black would be badass. I've been pondering the idea of painting it and can't come up with what I want to do. I'm not a huge fan of everything all bright and painted under the hood. Black would be subtle, I like it!

Welcome.
Nice upgrades so far.
I would restore those fogs before I put them on, or order new housings.

Re: On the back burner, sedan build.
To mount those fogs, get your self a OEM lower grill for fogs, then cut the ends off that the housings mount in. A quick trip to the junk yard should get you a grill.

Re: On the back burner, sedan build.
Yea, I heard from several others about the other grille. I want to figure out some other way but most likely it'll be done that way. (the correct way)lol
Every focus I see at junk yards either the front is wrecked or its the fogless type like mine.
yes I plan to restore them.
Thanks for all the comments.

Do you plan to modify that SVT honey comb grill to fit the OEM front bumper? Wow, cool. I haven't seen anyone do that before. Keep us updated on the photos of that.

I agree, painting the mirror caps make a Focus appear so much much more classy. It's cheap and quick.

Yes, I've seen it done before but only a few times I should have this done by the end of the month not that it's that complicated I just don't have the time. I already got the OEM fog grille in too just need the time to get things cut and fitted.

Re: On the back burner, sedan build.
Thanks, man!
I got these decals (sedan) through ebay UK last year finally got them on last weekend, but I hated how they both faced left so the passenger side was facing the rear of the car.
So I talked to the company out of London and they was very helpful and understanding and made me a couple right facing ones. So I can get the look I was going for, got them in the mail today!

Re: On the back burner, sedan build.
Update: Got it close to being done still need to wire up the lights and adhere everything together so I'll have more progress later.
Before: Got everything gathered up.
I hacked the ends of the OEM fog grille off but I left enough to give me something to work with.
Then I cut the three bars out of the inside just leaving the outside frame.
Here's what I was left with after.
I put the lights in place so I could test fit the SVT lower and measure up my cut lines.
I took some wire snippers and cut off along where I wanted the grille to meet up with the fogs.
What I was left with.
I test fitted again and trimmed as needed till it met up with the fogs and it fit in the grille space
properly.
End result.
Left over stuff.
Finished for now till I have more time.

Eproxy them, I actually bought some but forgot to take it with me. So that'll be next weekends project to get it finished. I already got a SVT lip on hold for me, a friend of mine from southern Ohio is bringing it up with him for the focus meet on the 22nd. Can't wait!

James, your car is coming along nicely. I think you need to sell those wheels on FF and get something new that will fit the car so much better. Keep up the good work man.
Oh and if you need any SPI parts let me know. I got a stock pile I want gone.

Re: On the back burner, sedan build.
Thanks for the compliments it means a lot coming from you guys.
Although there is another member who wants them. I'll probably never sell them I would like to get a few other sets though. Definitely some 17s. I know they are chrome but they don't make them any more and I have not seen another set period. Everyone on the net knows my car from them. I've had people say "I knew I saw a liquid grey with ASAs on the net but I couldn't find it any where later when I tried to find pics of it". I love the neck breakers when I drive around town some guy had to pick his own tongue off the parking lot at wal-mart the other day, he was in mid sentence and just stopped.

Re: On the back burner, sedan build.
Ok to put this up to date.
I changed the crank position sensor.
burned my arm in the process cause I found it easier to get to the top bolt by reaching my arm down behind the block which was a little hot but it had to get done.
Changed my PCV valve (hose is still good)
Added a breather filter to the valve cover.
changed out the IAC sensor I don't have any pics of it but here I am getting ready to start working on it.
Finished I took the car for a test drive.

Next on my list is a full tune up and fuel filter. I got the filter already, I still shopping around for the other stuff.
Because I got bashed so bad when I did my last tune up due to the use of cheap Bosch plugs and auto zone parts I'm going to do it right this time. I'm ordering the Massive Ignition package: 8mm wires, and MSD coil and Motorcraft plugs, plugs are separate from the package.
